Disney World’s Single Rider Lines: A Smart Shortcut for Solo Adventurers
If you’re visiting Walt Disney World and want to maximize your time, single rider lines are one of the best-kept secrets in the parks. These lines allow guests willing to ride alone to bypass the longer standby queues by filling in empty seats left by larger groups. It’s a win-win: Disney keeps ride vehicles full, and you get on faster.
How Single Rider Lines Work
Single rider lines are separate from the regular standby and Lightning Lane queues. When a ride vehicle has an odd number of seats or a gap in a group, Cast Members pull from the single rider line to fill it. You won’t be seated with your party, and you won’t choose your seat—but you’ll likely wait far less.
Who can use them?
Anyone aged 7 or older who meets the ride’s height requirement. You don’t have to be alone in the park—just willing to ride solo.
When are they open?
Typically during midday to early evening, though availability can vary. They may not be open at park opening or right before closing.
Rides with Single Rider Lines at Disney World
Here’s a breakdown of the attractions that offer single rider lines—some permanently, others sporadically:
Permanent Single Rider Lines
- Test Track – EPCOT
Design your own car, then race through high-speed trials. The single rider line skips the design phase, so you’ll board faster but miss that interactive element. - Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain – Animal Kingdom
A thrilling coaster through the Himalayas, complete with a Yeti encounter. The single rider line here is often much shorter than standby. - Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – Hollywood Studios
A high-speed launch coaster with a rock soundtrack. Note: This ride is scheduled for a major reimagining in 2026, so availability may change. - Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – Hollywood Studios
Fly the Falcon in a team of six. Single riders are usually assigned the Engineer role, which is less interactive than Pilot or Gunner—but still fun.
Occasional or Testing Single Rider Lines
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – EPCOT
A trackless dark ride through Gusteau’s kitchen. Single rider access has been tested but isn’t guaranteed daily. - Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Hollywood Studios
One of Disney’s most immersive experiences. Single rider lines have been tested but are not consistently available. - Soarin’ Around the World – EPCOT
A gentle flight over global landmarks. Single rider access appears during peak seasons like holidays. - Avatar Flight of Passage – Animal Kingdom
A breathtaking flight on a banshee. Single rider lines have been spotted occasionally, especially during high crowd periods.
Tips for Using Single Rider Lines
- Check the My Disney Experience app for real-time availability. Search “Single Rider Option” to see which rides are offering it at that moment.
- Don’t count on it for every ride. These lines are subject to operational needs and crowd levels.
- Be flexible. You won’t choose your seat or ride with your group, but you’ll save time—sometimes cutting your wait by two-thirds.
