Grand Floridian Lobby Refurbishment

The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa—Disney’s flagship luxury hotel—is in the final stages of a sweeping lobby refurbishment that’s set to wrap up by November 2025. This transformation is part of a multi-year resort-wide refresh that has already modernized guest rooms, dining venues, and public spaces. The lobby, long celebrated for its Victorian elegance, is being reimagined to blend timeless charm with updated design and functionality.

What’s Changing in the Lobby

Two major projects are currently underway:

1. The New Lobby Bar

A centerpiece of the renovation is the construction of a Victorian-inspired lobby bar, replacing the former birdcage structure. The framework is now complete, and crews are adding intricate woodwork, brass detailing, and stained glass elements that pay homage to the Grand Floridian’s classic aesthetic. This new bar is expected to become a stylish gathering spot for guests, offering a refined atmosphere and expanded beverage options.

2. Garden View Lounge Makeover

The Garden View Lounge, previously known for its afternoon tea service, is undergoing a full makeover. Updates include fresh paint, new moulding, and flooring designed to brighten the space while preserving its historic character. Disney has not yet announced whether the tea service will return, but the refreshed lounge is expected to offer a more versatile and inviting guest experience.

Design Enhancements

The lobby’s overall look is shifting toward a lighter, garden-inspired theme. New murals, golden light fixtures, and whimsical wallpaper featuring soft blue tones and floral motifs are being installed throughout the space. The updated carpet and furniture selections aim to create a more airy and botanical ambiance, while still honoring the resort’s Victorian roots.

The main staircase, which had been temporarily closed, has now reopened with a brighter, refreshed appearance. Guests can also spot new artwork above the staircase, adding visual interest and elegance to the central atrium.

What to Expect During Your Visit

While most of the work is confined to the interior lobby, guests should be aware of a few temporary changes:

  • Construction walls and scrims are still present in key areas, including the former front desk and Garden View Lounge.
  • Modified pathways may affect how guests move through the lobby.
  • Temporary check-in stations are set up near the Porte Cochere.
  • Exterior work is limited to the convention center, where scaffolding is in place for roof repairs.

Importantly, resort amenities—including dining, pools, and transportation—remain fully operational.

Holiday Impact

One notable change this year: the Grand Floridian’s iconic gingerbread house display will not be presented in the lobby due to ongoing construction. Disney is reportedly exploring alternative locations for a similar holiday exhibit.

Looking Ahead

Once completed, the refurbished lobby will offer a refreshed yet familiar experience—one that balances the resort’s rich history with modern elegance. The new bar and lounge spaces are expected to elevate the guest experience, making the Grand Floridian not just a place to stay, but a destination to savor.
